WHAT MAKES 'TWO 4 JAZZ' UNIQUE?

We feature  contemporary big bands, vocalists, combos and individual artists performing modern interpretations of standards as well as original works.  In addition, our  musical mix always includes 'classic' performances of the the great jazz icons. Between sets, we like to put our own 'spin' on the music and share first hand information about many of the artists that we feature. Listeners tell us that our style is  'laid-back' and our commentary is often humorous. We have fun and hope it's catching.

In order to get the 'flavor' of our programming tastes, here is a representative (if not inclusive) sample of the groups/artists that we might choose from when designing  'Two 4 Jazz' shows:

Contemporary Big Bands - e.g., The Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra, Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band, Diva, the presently constituted Count Basie Orchestra, some great regional bands as well as the premier big bands of the armed forces - The Airmen of Note, The Navy Commodores, and the Army Blues 'Classic' Big Bands -e.g., Woody Herman, Duke Ellington, Artie Shaw, Tommy Dorsey, Stan Kenton, Count Basie and Les Brown

Current Vocalists / Vocal Groups - e.g., Michael Buble, Diana Krall, John Pizzarelli, Steve Tyrell, Roberta Gambarini, Mark Murphy, Dena DeRose Dee Dee Bridgewater, Greta Mattasa, Nancy Kelly, Nancy Wilson, The Manhattan Transfer, The Uptown Vocal Jazz Quartet and The Singers Unlimited 'Classic' Vocalists - e.g., Anita O'Day, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn, Irene Kral, Shirley Horn, Joe Williams, Carmen McRae, Johnny Hartman, Nat 'King' Cole and Chet Baker

Modern Combos / Individuals- e.g., Ahmad Jamal, The Clayton Brothers Quintet, Terry Gibbs, Houston Person, George Shearing, Benny Green, Jeff Hamilton, Frank Wess, Monty Alexander, Bill Charlap and Dave Brubeck 'Classic' Combos / Individuals - e.g., Gerry Mulligan, Zoot Sims, Charlie Parker, Lester Young, Ray Brown, Gene Harris, Chet Baker, The Modern Jazz Quartet, Cannonball Adderley, Miles Davis, Stan Getz,  Art Pepper, Paul Desmond, Clifford Brown, Ben Webster, Sonny Stitt and Johnny Hodges
